SCOTLAND’S OLDEST METAL FEST RETURNS WITH FURY
Dundee, September 5–6 | Hidden & Music Hall
Scotland’s heaviest institution is back, and it’s meaner than ever. Now entering its 15th year, Hordes X continues its reign as the longest-running metal festival in the country—and the lineup for 2025 proves exactly why.
Anchored by Iranian-British black metal force Trivax (Osmose Productions), this year’s fest is a firestorm of international chaos and local savagery. Joining them are UK prog-death wreckers As The World Dies (Reaper Entertainment), Scottish death-folk trailblazers Hand Of Kalliach (Prosthetic Records), and a ferocious mix of underground upstarts and festival veterans, including Certain Death, Thrashist Regime, and Hammer. This isn’t just a show—it’s a rite of passage for any metalhead north of the border.
Held across two stages in Dundee’s Hidden and Music Hall, the fest splits into two distinct sessions. Friday night, September 5th, kicks off with a no-holds-barred Mosh Monthly Warmup Special, featuring six blistering acts including Pict, Killscythe, and a headlining set from Hand Of Kalliach themselves. This prelude is part of the rising Mosh Monthly series, curated by Slow Dragon Music and Kevvymetal Promotions, and it’s grown into a respected proving ground for hungry live bands.
Saturday, September 6th, is the main event—13 bands across two stages with zero set clashes. That means maximum exposure, maximum carnage, and no compromises. Expect everything from blackened new blood like Bleached, to thunderous tech and prog from Man Made Origin, Atlantic Rift, and Nothing Speaks, plus proven scene killers like Dreich, Nassau, and Bloodsun.
Closing the festival in pure inferno fashion, Trivax brings their ritualistic energy and new album The Great Satan to Dundee for what promises to be a spiritual purge in sound. Frontman Shayan summed it up best:
“It is with immense honour that Trivax will headline the prestigious Hordes X Festival in Dundee… Now, with the arrival of our new album The Great Satan, we are prepared to ignite an evening of pure ecstasy, fire, and fury. Secure your tickets now, we’ll see you at the frontlines!”
Early bird “Blind Bat” tickets sold out in under two weeks, so full-priced advance passes are now available at just £17 for both days (£20 on the door). Friday-only entry is £10 at the door, while it lasts.
Hordes X has long been a launchpad for future legends—bands like Saor, Party Cannon, and Hellripper have stormed its stages in the past. Whether you're looking to scout the next big name or just lose yourself in pure sonic warfare, this is where the underground roars its loudest.
Follow Slow Dragon Music for ongoing coverage, interviews, and band features in the lead-up. This year is shaping up to be a full-scale celebration of everything that makes the UK metal scene relentless, weird, and beautifully alive.
