Matchbox Twenty

Matchbox Twenty have confirmed a 52-date North American tour for 2027, marking three decades since the release of their breakthrough debut album, Yourself or Someone Like You. The announcement comes a day after the band played an intimate one-off show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, which kicked off what is being billed as a year-long anniversary celebration.

The tour begins on May 15, 2027, at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham, Alabama, and wraps up on August 12 at the Acrisure Amphitheater in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before the main run, the band will appear at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California, on April 25. The itinerary includes some of North America’s best-known stages, among them Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado on May 22 and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on June 9. There are also Canadian dates in Vancouver on May 30 and Toronto on July 21.

Support acts will vary by city. The All-American Rejects, The Wallflowers, David Gray, O.A.R., Matt Nathanson and The Lucky have all been named as special guests on select dates. The bill leans heavily on late-’90s and early-2000s nostalgia, which suits an anniversary built around a record from 1996.

Fans can register for the artist presale, which opens on Tuesday, October 20. A Reserved by Spotify presale for eligible Spotify Premium top fans starts the same day, and further presales will run through the week. General tickets go on sale Friday, October 23, at 10am local time through the band’s official website. The tour is promoted by Live Nation.

Yourself or Someone Like You arrived on October 1, 1996, and turned the Orlando band into international stars. It is certified diamond and 12x platinum, and it produced “Push,” “3AM,” “Real World” and “Back 2 Good.” The group later added hits including “Bent,” “If You’re Gone,” “Unwell” and “How Far We’ve Come.” The current lineup features Rob Thomas, Kyle Cook, Paul Doucette and Brian Yale.

More anniversary plans are still taking shape. Thomas recently told the Rolling Stone Uncut podcast that the band intends to return to Australia in 2027. He also said ideas are being discussed for a possible Broadway residency, joking that it “looks better on a T-shirt than Vegas.” Neither is part of the North American schedule announced this week, so fans overseas will need to wait for further news.

The band are also due to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight, giving viewers a preview of what the anniversary shows might sound like. With 52 shows across the US and Canada, demand for the bigger venues is likely to be fierce when tickets go on sale next week.
