Since their 2019 formation, AGAOS has operated within a space they describe as a "(left hand) path" through the death metal scene. Their second full-length album, Man Proposes, Earth Disposes, released on February 25, 2026, avoids the "traditional death metal mold" by favoring a process rooted in intuition and chaotic experimentation instead of just calculated formula.
A Symphony of Controlled Destruction
The album’s core strength lies in its rhythm—it is "mosh pit worthy" not through simple aggression, but through a thick, modern mix that allows for moveable rhythms. While the band remains "deeply rooted in 90's death metal," they successfully integrate elements reminiscent of Bloodbath and Dissection into a cohesive whole.
Astray Horizon: This track opens with ringing guitars and a melodic, black metal-influenced atmosphere before grounding itself in very substantial, growling vocals. It highlights the band's ability to shift notes while maintaining a steady, driving beat.
Circling the Drain: Dark and melodic, this song features a haunting mid-track pause at the 3:40 mark before building back into a heavy, rhythmic climax.
Euphorically Abandoned: With a kind of rhythm that creeps into you, this track uses brief bursts of heavy double-bass drumming to punctuate its more dramatic, steady sections.

The lyrics, penned by Wouter T'Seyen, provide an unflinching examination of social tensions and human nature. There is a recurring theme of personal sovereignty versus the "neurotic swarm" of the collective.
Individualism: In The Soul's Intruder, the band rejects the "embitterment of beauty" and the need to reflect one’s idols, instead urging the listener to pursue uniqueness.
Societal Collapse: Scapegoat Hypocrisy offers a cynical look at the mob mentality and the demolition of Pied d'Estalle (the pedestal), where reputation is shattered by a single misstep.
Environmental Dread: The title track Circling the Drain and the closing Terrestrial Inferno serve as a grim dialogue with the earth itself, suggesting a self-made purgatory where humanity's ancient efforts are eventually disposed of by a scorched planet.
Technical Execution
Recorded and mixed across several specialized hands—including drum recording and mastering by Erwin Hermsen and vocal editing by Yarne Heylen—the album achieves a refined sound with significant attention to detail and groove. The result is a record that feels less like a collection of songs and more like a deliberate, heavy, and dark experience.
